About Us
The Foundation for The Good Samaritans was born out of compassion and a deep sense of responsibility toward the poor and marginalized. In 1977, in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, Emil Jebasingh and Ananthi Jebasingh laid its foundation, moved by the pressing needs of poverty-stricken communities around them.
What began as a heartfelt response soon grew into a collective mission. Like-minded individuals—Prof. Jeyam Navaraj, Dr. Prince Vedaraj, Mr. & Mrs. Albert, Mr. R. Jeyaraj, and Mr. A. Stephen—joined hands, united by a shared vision to serve and uplift those in need. Their combined passion and commitment transformed a simple initiative into a growing movement of hope.
This vision was formally established when The Good Samaritans was registered as a Society on 12th February 1979 in Tuticorin, with Emil Jebasingh serving as its founding Chairman.
From humble beginnings, driven by compassion, the mission continues—to reach the unreached, serve the underserved, and restore dignity to lives.

A Vision is Born
The Foundation for The Good Samaritans was established in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, by Emil Jebasingh and Ananthi Jebasingh with a mission to uplift economically disadvantaged communities through compassion and service.
Official Registration & Community Development
- Registered under the Societies Registration Act.
- Sewing & Tailoring Centre established with 2 tailoring machines.
- Installed bore wells across Tirunelveli District.
- Supported victims of the Tuticorin Cinema Theatre fire tragedy.
- Began a long-standing partnership with Calgary Friends.
Expanding Education & Housing
- Registered under Income Tax Act (12A).
- Partnered with Compassion of India to educate 200 underprivileged children.
- Started the Typewriting Training Centre.
- Constructed 110 homes for fire-affected fishing communities.
Rural Healthcare
- Established a Primary Health Centre at Arasarady Panaiyur Village to improve access to basic healthcare.
Strengthening Global Partnerships
Welcomed the second visit of Calgary Friends, reinforcing international collaboration.
Literacy Mission Begins
Started the Bharati Literacy Programme in Alaknanda Slums, New Delhi.
Reaching More Communities
Expanded the Bharati Literacy Programme to Dakshinpuri Slums, New Delhi.
Education in Tribal Languages
Published Bharati Literacy Books in six tribal languages, making education accessible to indigenous communities.
School for Underprivileged Children
Established a Literacy Programme School in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Youth Development
Organized the First Summer Camp for children in Delhi, encouraging learning beyond the classroom.
Earthquake Rehabilitation
- Constructed 231 permanent homes for earthquake-affected families in Mathak Village, Gujarat.
- Received 2 acres of land from the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for a Senior Secondary School.
- Granted Income Tax Exemption under Section 80G.
Digital Empowerment
- Started the Computer Training Centre, providing free computer education and digital skills to economically disadvantaged youth.
National Recognition
Received Income Tax Exemption under Section 35AC from the Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
Expansion to Hyderabad
Established the TGS Multi-Purpose Centre in Hyderabad to expand community development initiatives.
Kandhamal Rehabilitation
Undertook the construction of 2,741 homes for families affected by the Kandhamal riots in Odisha, one of our largest rehabilitation projects.
Excellence in Inclusive Education
The TGS Higher Secondary School, Delhi, received the State Award for Inclusive Learning, recognizing its commitment to quality education for every child.
